Business Development Executive

Business Development Executive

Location: Charlton House and across Royal Greenwich Heritage sites

Contract: Full time (35 hours per week), fixed term contract for 1 year

Salary: c £33,000 p.a.

 

This new role will develop income generating activities for the Trust across our sites including Greenwich Heritage Centre and Charlton House, as we enter a new phase working with partners to reinvent access to our heritage for residents and visitors to the Borough. Reporting to the CEO, you will work across the Charity with the Trust team developing ideas and plans for generating income as well as implementing these.

Our assets include a visitor centre, café and shop as well as buildings, historical collections and archives. We need to intensify and diversify the use of these assets whilst remaining true to our purpose of advancing the education of the public in the history and heritage of the Royal Borough of Greenwich and surrounding area.

Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust has been established for 3 years. We are now entering a phase where innovation and creativity will further transform the Trust as an entrepreneurial organisation.

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, can think creatively about business development opportunities, works well in a team, but is also able to prepare realistic business plans to put ideas into practice.

Location: Charlton House, across Royal Greenwich Heritage sites and in the community

Contract: Full or Part time, fixed term contract for 1 year

Salary: £24,000 pa (pro rata £19,200 for 28 hours per week)

 

This new post will join us as we enter an exciting phase seeking to reinvent access to our heritage for local residents and visitors to the Borough. You will strengthen our capacity to engage local communities in the history and heritage of the Royal Borough of Greenwich and surrounding area. The role is critical to achieving our purpose of advancing understanding of the history and heritage of our Borough, to conserve the assets in the trusts care – (buildings and landscape, collections and archives) –and ensure these are shared with as many people as possible. Our regular activities already include: learning and participation, exhibitions and events, working with partners and volunteers to provide access to assets in our care.  We want to offer much more and are excited by the prospect of a Community Outreach Officer developing innovative ways of achieving our aims.

Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust has been established for 3 years. We are now entering a phase where innovation and creativity across the Trust will transform us into an entrepreneurial organisation. You will play a leading role in enabling audience development and engagement by:

  • Developing new activities
  • Extending our public programme ensuring it meets the needs and interests of diverse audiences
  • Growing and diversifying our audiences
  • Maintaining sustainable partnerships with local community groups
  • Training community group leaders to run projects
  • Recruiting and inducting volunteers.

To succeed you will need:

  • Proven experience in engaging a range of community audiences in high-quality learning programmes
  • Experience of running community panels or other consultative community forums
  • An appreciation for, and understanding of, the diverse nature of families and community groups and the need to be sensitive to different needs.
  • Proven experience of sustaining effective partnerships with local community organisations
