Come to Greenwich Libraries this Summer to experience a fragment from the Ottoman Empire for yourself!
A perfect replica of an Ottoman gravestone, from Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust collection, has been produced by Captivate Greenwich at University of Greenwich. The Ottoman Stone on tour will allow everyone to see and touch the stone up close.
The Ottoman Gravestone will be on tour in the following locations:
June 21st until 5th of July – Greenwich Centre library
5th of July – 18th of July – Eltham Centre Library
22nd of July until 20th of August – Woolwich Centre Library
20th August to 30th September – Plumstead Library
We’ll be running a children’s drop in craft sessions for children aged 5-12 years old at the following locations:
Eltham Library- 10th July, 3.34pm – 4.35pm
Woolwich Library- 14th August, 1pm and 2.30pm.
Plumstead Library- 10th September, 3.30pm-5pm
Talks about the Stone by Dr Michael Talbot will be held at;
The Greenwich Centre – 26th of June, 10.30am
Eltham Library- 16th of July, 10.30am.
Plumstead Library- 18th September, 12 Noon
The Ottoman Stone will also be available to view at this years’ Horn Fair at Charlton House on the 20th of October. Come along to meet our team, see the stone and ask any questions!
