Learn > Families

Families are welcome at both the Heritage Centre and Charlton House, where a range of activities is available throughout the year

Children's trails (free)

Many of the exhibitions at the Heritage Centre include free children’s activities. Pop in today to see what’s on offer!

Please note parents and/or carers are responsible for supervising their children at all times.

Museum Makes (free)

Museum Makes is a drop-in art club for children and their families. It takes place most Saturdays from 10.30am - 12.00 noon at the Heritage Centre. Activities and materials are suitable for ages four and over but younger children are welcome to join in with the help of their families. No need to book – just drop in!

There will be no Saturday Makes sessions on 23rd and 30th December due to our Christmas and New Year Closure. We will resume as normal in the new year.

Please note that parents and/or carers are responsible for supervising their children at all times.

Holiday Histories

We offer activities throughout the year, including school holidays and seasonal specials. For more information check our Holiday History & What’s On sections.

  • What a great idea! Very inspirational and imaginative for young minds and we adults enjoyed it all too.

  • Very imaginative – leads to children and adult dialogue about wishes and dreams. Thank you.

  • I really enjoyed myself today, I wish I could do it again!
