Walled Gardens Volunteer Project

The Trust is delighted to announce an exciting joint project with the Charlton & Blackheath Amateur Horticultural Society that aims to return the former Pond Garden at Charlton House & Gardens back to its former glory.

Following a successful application to Greenwich Neighbourhood Growth Fund, the project has been awarded £6,000, which will go towards new benches, tools and tree surgeon work, and a large part will be for buying new plants.

Initially the focus of work was to weed and remove all unwanted foliage from the gardens.  After many weeks and lots of hard work this is now complete, and planting has begun with volunteer Jason Carty having also designed a wonderful planting plan to provide a focus for the future.

Regular volunteer sessions are every Tuesday 2-4pm and Thursday 11am-1pm.  New recruits are always welcome so if you are interested and would like to join please contact  All volunteers will be asked to sign a Health & Safety form, adhere to social distancing guidelines, and not share tools or food & drink.
