  • Roman tesserae excavated in Greenwich Park
  • Hermann’s Tortoise specimen from the Mediterranean
  • Brass, Victorian pasty cutting wheel and corner cutter
  • Nine Banded Armadillo from South America
  • Post Office Savings Bank commemorating the 1935 Jubilee

Thanks to a substantial investment by the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Royal Greenwich's collections and archive are housed together, for the first time in their 100-year history, at a facility and store fitted to the highest standards of collection and archive care and management.

During the pandemic, our collections manager and archivist have dedicated themselves to a digital catologuing project, ensuring that the Royal Borough of Greenwich’s collections and archives are accessible to residents and researchers for years to come. This work will continue for the next several months, and will occupy the majority of their time and resources.

With this in mind, and in the interest of maintaining a safe workspace for our team and visiting researchers, we intend to re-open Royal Greenwich’s archives for in-person research in 2022.
