Charlton House 100 – The Study
From Jacobean private mansion to public asset, our new exhibition charts the last 100 years of Charlton House since it first opened to the public in 1925. Through photographs, objects, and stories from the museum and archive collection. Royal Heritage Heritage Trust explore how the House has adapted through war, social change, and cultural transformation.
The People’s Gallery Exhibition – The White Room
Opening 1st September, we recognise that Charlton House is more than stone and timber, it’s been shaped by the people who’ve lived, worked, and cared for it for over 400 years. From Lady Katherine Newton in the 1600s to post-war House Warden, Mr Jenkins, countless individuals have kept the house alive, adapting it for each new era. This gallery shares a few of these stories.
75 Years of Gardening – CABAHS
Charlton and Blackheath Amateur Horticultural Society (CABAHS) celebrate their 75th anniversary this year. Their relationship with Charlton House goes back many years with their first chair, Mr Charles Earle, also the Maryon-Wilson’s estate manager who was charged with preparing the House and grounds for sale in 1925.
