Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust's volunteers are a core part of our day to day events, research and education

We have a wonderful team, helping deliver our extensive programme of events. If you would like to join us, gain an insight into museum life and learn new skills, get in touch to find out what’s currently available.

Volunteer Roles

Our previous and current volunteer roles have include:

Working with our archives and collections to find out more about the borough for projects and exhibitions.

Working closely with our Museum collections, cataloguing and repackaging objects.

Assisting with our event programme preparations and activities.

Helping us use our museum and archives to teach schools, colleges and families and help people find out about our heritage.

"Making Woolwich" Volunteers

We are currently recruiting volunteers to help with our brand new exhibition "Making Woolwich" at the Greenwich Heritage Centre.

To create this exhibition, we are going to need the support of an active group of volunteers. In particular we are looking for volunteers to do two specific roles:

  • Events and Evaluation - Recording local people's opinions on the project and the content that we should inlcude is a vital part of the work that we are doing here. We also want to record people's own memories, stories and associations with the RA in Woolwich. This volunteer role will see you meeting and talking with members of the public and recording their contributions. You will also be able to assist the Trust staff in evaluating the information gathered.
  • Research - Discovering information about the history of the RA and the associations that they have with Woolwich (both formal and informal) is key to our creating this exhibition. We are looking to have a team of people work with our and other archives to find out information about the men and women of the Regiment, and the many people and sites in Woolwich that connect to the RA.

Please see our "Making Woolwich" Page for more information about this exciting project:

If you are interested in knowing more about the project, and how you can support it, please contact Mark Tindle, Exhibition Project Officer, at Greenwich Heritage Centre.
